The Dream Project empowers children and their families to better their lives and their neighborhood by giving them opportunities to build affordable homes.
After purchasing foreclosed houses in city auctions, the Carolina Outreach Foundation organizes local contractors and volunteers in their renovation. Program youths work on the project as interns, coached by their therapeutic mentors and trained by volunteer contractors.
When a house is completed, it is then sold for below-market value to a participating family in need of an affordable home. All revenues generated are recycled into the Dream Project to help make the program self-sustaining.
Through generous giving by both the Carolina Outreach staff and local philanthropist, the Foundation is prepared to purchase its first home in the Spring of 2007. Stay tuned for more details as the project gets underway.
